Underwater Search & Recovery Services

Professional underwater search for lost items in lakes, rivers, ponds, and nearshore coastal waters

When something valuable is lost underwater,  recovery depends on conditions, the accuracy of the last known location, and a  methodical search approach.

I provide methodical underwater search services for lost personal property using a combination of surface assessment, underwater drones, scuba equipment, and small-watercraft support when needed.

Searches are planned and scheduled in advance to ensure the right equipment, conditions, and approach are in place, with safety and minimal environmental disturbance as priorities.

If the situation involves a vehicle or a possible missing person, local authorities should be contacted immediately.

What I Can Help Recover

If it matters to you, it’s worth finding.

I assist with locating and recovering submerged personal property such as:

  • Phones, keys, and wallets
  • Rings, watches, necklaces, and other jewelry
  • Sunglasses and personal items
  • Tools and equipment
  • Boating or watersports items
  • Other items lost in or around the water

Searches may be possible in lakes, ponds, rivers, marinas, and nearshore coastal waters, depending on conditions and access.

If you are unsure whether your situation is a fit, reach out with details and I will help assess the best next step.

How the Process Works

1. Initial Review

We start with a conversation to understand:

  • Location and site access
  • Estimated depth
  • Water conditions
  • Item description
  • Last known position
  • Time since loss

This determines whether a search is feasible and what method is most appropriate.

2. Search Plan & Estimate

Based on the information provided, I will outline:

  • Recommended search method (drone, diver, or combination)
  • Estimated time on site
  • Equipment required
  • Travel considerations
  • Clear pricing structure

This ensures you understand the approach, expectations, and costs before committing to the search.

3. Scheduling & Deposit

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure the search and cover:

  • Secure your search date
  • Cover planning, mobilization, and travel preparation
  • Reserve the required equipment and time

All remaining costs are discussed upfront so expectations are clear before the search begins.

4. Search & Recovery Attempt

Depending on the situation, the search may involve:

  • Surface assessment and entry-point analysis
  • Underwater drone scanning
  • Diver-based search patterns
  • Marked or grid-based search areas
  • Boat-supported positioning when needed

Each search is conducted methodically within the agreed scope. Environmental conditions such as visibility, current, and bottom composition can significantly impact results.

5. Outcome & Completion

If the item is located, it will be recovered and returned in the condition found.

Recovered items may be wet, dirty, scratched, damaged, or non-functional due to water exposure or impact. Condition does not affect whether recovery is considered successful.

If the item is not located within the agreed search scope, the effort is still considered complete based on the time, planning, travel, and execution involved. In some cases, additional or extended search efforts may be discussed.

Recovery is based on locating and retrieving the item, not its condition or functionality.

Pricing & Payment

Payment Structure (Transparent & Fair)

Every search is unique. Pricing is based on:

  • Planning and consultation
  • Travel and mobilization
  • On-site search time
  • Equipment used
  • Environmental complexity

A non-refundable deposit is required to schedule the search.

Fees are based on the agreed scope of work and the time, planning, and resources required for the search—not solely on the outcome.

A recovery is defined as the successful location and retrieval of the item from the water.

Important Notes & Limitations

Underwater recovery is influenced by factors outside of anyone’s control, including:

  • Water visibility
  • Depth
  • Current
  • Mud, silt, vegetation, or debris
  • Accuracy of the last known location
  • Time elapsed since loss
  • Access and safety conditions

Because of these variables, recovery cannot be guaranteed.

I do not provide law enforcement, forensic recovery, or official evidence-handling services.

Safety, legality, and responsible operation are always the priority.

Service Area

Primary service is local and regional.

Travel to other locations, including nearshore coastal areas, may be available depending on scope, schedule, and logistics. Travel costs and planning requirements will be discussed in advance and included in the estimate.

Missing Person or Vehicle-Related Situations

Volunteer Missing Person Water Search Support

If there is any possibility that a missing person or submerged vehicle is involved, contact local law enforcement or emergency services immediately.

In certain situations, I may be able to provide limited volunteer search support after authorities are notified, if appropriate and within the scope of my equipment and capabilities.

This does not replace official search and rescue operations.

Contact me to discuss your situation and next steps.

To help evaluate your request, please include the location, depth (if known), item description, when it was lost, last known position, access details, and your timeline. Please also include a phone number and the best time to call for a brief consultation. This allows me to assess feasibility and recommend the best search approach.
